Bruce II Sports Com­plex rec­og­nized as autism friendly

The Bruce II Sports com­plex has been de­clared autism friendly, says Joan Chais­son, co­founder of Autism In­volves Me (AIM).

In or­der to re­ceive the des­ig­na­tion, em­ploy­ees re­ceived autism aware­ness train­ing. Staff also de­vel­oped a spe­cial­ized swim­ming pro­gram for autism and a Sun­shine Bowl­ing League to em­brace all peo­ple with chal­lenges.

The sports cen­tre has also part­nered with AIM to de­velop a sen­sory gym for all pre-school­ers and chil­dren in the area with autism or other sen­sory needs.

Kris Bragg of Kris’ Kus­toms do­nated a sign for the Bruce II to dis­play for its guests.
