The odd perils of politics
Odd oddities (July 3)
Steve Buist should have added one more to his Facts Of Summer Life odds list. For Stephen Harper’s sake, he should have added the odds of a Canadian being killed by a terrorist. I’m guessing it is well below the odds of being killed by a bear or by lightning. But his government isn’t spending a ton of money to protect us from those dangers nor in preventing or curing Lyme disease are they? Could it be that, in the Conservative mindset, protecting us from these latter mundane risks wouldn’t provide nearly as much traction in the upcoming election as inciting fear and legislating draconian measures to ensure that we are safe from the terrorist “threat”?
