You can’t compare Muhammad to Jesus
RE: A different point of chronology (March 30)
In his response to Beverly Shepard’s letter, Stuart Laughton erroneously compares Jesus with Muhammad, which is a mistake that Westerners have been making for centuries.
In addition to the f act that Jesus was God, according to scripture, as opposed to Muhammad, who was a prophet, such comparisons are not interested in fact, but rather seek to set up the East against the West as natural counterparts, in order to prove the supposed superiority of Eurocentric knowledge and render legitimate the invasion of non-Western nations.
I’m surprised that The Spec would publish such a reactionary letter, as such attitudes are based in histories of which their purveyors have no knowledge. Margaret Boyce, Dundas
