Drive with your eyes wide open

RE: Burlington needs action on traffic noise (June 6) I have been riding for 61 years, and still do. In my opinion, any rider who feels they are creating a safe bubble by blasting a cacophony of exhaust noise is mistaken. The noise disrupts the normal quiet for blocks in every direction, and engenders contempt.

But drivers’ attention can be taken by many other events, such as cellphones, loud music and they just might be deaf. Motorcyclists should be aware that when it comes to bikes or four-wheeled vehicles, bikes lose. Open your eyes and drive like your life depends on it. Because it does. Bob Tyrrell, Hamilton
