Man accused of killing dad heading to trial in November

A Hamilton man charged with murder in the 2014 death of his father is scheduled to go to trial on Nov. 28. Jonathan Robles’ jury trial is expected to last two weeks. His father, Antonio Robles, 66, was found dead of stab wounds on Nov. 9, 2014.

Man accused in driving death of brothers to stand trial in 2017

A Hamilton man charged in a 2012 crash that killed two brothers is scheduled for trial on July 10, 2017. Rui Alberto Cordeiro-Calouro (known as Rui Calouro when charged in December 2012) faces two counts of dangerous driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm following a head-on collision on Jerseyvill­e Road in August 2012 that killed Greg and Wayne Savoy, both in their early 50s. Three men and a teen in Cordeiro-Calouro’s car were also injured. Cordeiro-Calouro had been set for trial in April. Court has heard he has gone through two lawyers and is trying to hire a third. Superior Justice Robert Reid has said the trial will proceed next year whether he has a lawyer or not. Trial set in 2004 murder case The first-degree murder trial of Richard Bennett is scheduled to start Sept. 5, 2017. Bennett is charged in the death of Jean Paul Page, who went by Jay, in July 2004. Bennett, who worked with Page at a Burlington roofing company, was arrested in 2013. Sex trade attacks trial set A Hamilton man charged with a string of attacks targeting the city’s sex trade workers is set to go on trial on May 8, 2017. Douglas Griffin was arrested in July 2014 and faces five counts of sexual assault, two counts of assault, and other charges.
