Guns, drugs and cash found after police respond to Stoney Creek assault
The keen observations of uniformed patrol officers called to a domestic assault took a machine pistol and a kilo of coke off the street.
Officers responded to a report of a woman being assaulted inside a home in the Waterbridge Street and Dorchester Trail area of Stoney Creek at 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, officers ensured the safety of the woman, who did not require medical attention.
They also spotted drugs and paraphernalia in plain view, says Hamilton Police Det. Sgt. Joe Stewart, whose vice and drugs unit was notified of suspected drug trafficking. A warrant was obtained and at 8 p.m., the home was searched.
Police seized: a kilogram of cocaine; a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 calibre handgun with extra rounds of ammunition; an unloaded 9 mm prohibited machine pistol with ammunition and a high capacity magazine; shotgun ammunition; two machines used to press cocaine; a digital scale; a small amount of marijuana; about $50,000 in Canadian cash; a money counting machine.
The drugs are worth more than $55,000, according to police.
