The Hamilton U11 girls’ field lacrosse Bengals recorded a historic team first on July 3: their first ever victory.

The second-year team upended Mimico 7-6 in Ontario Women’s Field Lacrosse (OWFL) play, when Hamilton goalie Jordan Boyer turned away a last-second chance by Mimico to give the Bengals their first win.

The Bengals rallied in the second half from a 6-3 deficit and scored the game winner in the final minute. Hamilton goals scored by Audrey Evans and Jillian Boyer with two each and singles by Tianna Buonomo, Addison Holdsworth, and Reese Shigwadja.

The win boosted the young team’s rankings as they work hard to make a mark for themselves in Ontario competition, aided by a subsequent second victory heading toward provincial championships in Oshawa on July 28-29.

Hamilton Lacrosse has teams in the U11, U13, U15 and U19 divisions.
