ROCKY’S BEST BETS
VILETONES
A blast from our punk past, the Viletones — starring Steven Leckie as Nazi Dog — are playing a rare show at This Ain’t Hollywood, 345 James St. N., on Friday, Nov. 18, with Artificial Dissemination and Fleshrag. Close your eyes and imagine you’re back in Larry’s Hideaway. Tickets are $20. Better call the club now, 289-396-3911. This could sell out.
SNAGGLE
Snaggle, a six-piece Toronto-based electric jazz ensemble, is performing a show Friday, Nov. 18, at the Corktown, 175 Young St., to celebrate the release of the band’s new CD, “The Long Song.” Snaggle will be joined by Hamilton funk-rockers Flat 5, award-winning trumpeter Brownman Ali and DJ Pucker Funk. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Show at 9:30 p.m. $10 or $15 with CD.
BEAUTIFUL NOTHING
Burlington indie-rock outfit Beautiful Nothing is working on a new album planned for release in the new year. They’ve already released one single, “The Unknown,” from the upcoming LP that’s powered by eerie ’80s-style synth-rock. Expect to hear the new songs when Beautiful Nothing performs at The Casbah, Saturday, Nov. 19. Doors open 8 p.m. $10.
DEBRA DIGIOVANNI
Debra Digiovanni was always my favourite on Much Music’s “Video on Trial.” The Tillsonburg-raised comic is gut-busting hilarious and has three Canadian Comedy Awards to prove it. You can catch her standup act Saturday, Nov. 19, 8 p.m., at the historic Zoetic Theatre, 526 Concession St. 905-902-5683. Tickets are $28.25, available in advance online at thezoetic.ca.
SCARLETT CHRISTMAS
Get an early start on the Christmas spirit with Hamilton singer-pianist-songwriter Scarlett Deva Antaloczy. Scarlett uses her huge vocal range to showcase classic holiday favourites and some new original seasonal songs. Saturday, Nov. 19, 8 p.m., in the Studio at Hamilton Place. Cabaret seating. Tickets are $49 or $59 with table (including tax) available at the First Ontario Centre box office.
