Ailing beluga stumps vets after offspring’s death
The condition of an ailing beluga at the Vancouver Aquarium appears to have stabilized, two days after the whale’s offspring unexpectedly died with similar signs of illness. Aquarium CEO John Nightingale says Aurora, 29, is more alert today following her transfer to a medical pool on Thursday for round-theclock care. Officials say the animal appears to be suffering from abdominal cramps and inflammation. She is receiving fluids, antibiotics and stomach medication.
