MOUNTAIN VOLLEYBALL CLUB 13U — Black finished with 8-2 record and a first-place finish at their first invitation­al tournament in Hamilton. The team is coached by Dave Lightfoot, Julie Entwistle and Christian Hollingshe­ad. Team includes: Mary Coll Andrikopou­lous, Frances Cooke, Olivia Dodds, Sarah Elchuk, Faith Feeney, Avery O’Connell, Devyn Walsh, Eve Entwistle, Paige Entwistle and Nikol Tesic. Maroon team defeated the Cambridge Scorpions 25-16, 25-21 to win the gold medal at a six-team Hamilton invitation­al tournament. Their record in the round-robin was 8-2. The team is coached by Elaine Pilgrim-Susi, Nicholas Susi and Beatrice Costelloe. Players include: Abby Gerber, Caitlin Susi, Rebecca Brankovic, Julia Pona, Cecilia Diklic, Erin Hedgcock, Jules Crow, Rachel Battaglia and Penelope Costelloe. 14U — In round-robin play MVC defeated Niagara Rapids Red 25-13, 25-9 and stung the Vipers 25-14, 25-16. In the quarter-finals, MVC shored the Niagara Rapids White 25-11, 25-11, and in the semifinals out steered the Niagara Rapids Blue 23-25, 25-22, 15-7. MVC were defeated in the gold medal game by Halton Hurricanes Blue 25-19, 25-15. The team is coached by Wally Verschoor, Megan Richer and Mackenzie McCartney. Players include: Grace Preston, Kira Verschoor, Emily Richer, Alex Rorie, Leah Waite, Isabelle Schurer, Grace Germen, Kassandra Pavlic, Ana Dujakovic, Stephanie Karatsolia­s, Lilah Parn and Yana Cvetkova. 15U — OVA Provincial Cup — Trillium B in London. In pool play, MVC were defeated by Great Whites 25-16, 25-25, 8-15 and tamed the Waterloo Tigers 16U Black 25-17, 25-10. In the quarter-finals, MVC snared Waterloo Tigers 16U Red 18-25, 25-19, 15-9 and in the semifinals could not overcome the K-W Predators Invasion, losing 25-11, 25-13. For bronze medal, MVC pulled over the Milton Edge 25-13, 25-21. The team is coached by Denis Levesque, Rob Cherubin. Players include: Laura Persichini, Grace Manning, Abby MacDonald, Logan Garvey, Graziella Assaf, Abigail Alliston, Olivia Cherubin, Isabella Gondar, Julia Hapke and Leah Oehring. 17U — OVA 17U Provincial Cup held in Hamilton. MVC finished pool play having defeated the Niagara Rapids Blue 25-9, 25-19 and losing a close match to the Selects 25-22, 25-22. In the quarter-final, MVC overcame Hamilton Smash 24-26, 25-13, 16-14 and lost a hard fought match to the Niagara Rapids Black 25-23, 33-31. Playing their sister MVC 16U Maroon team, MVC 17U won in straight sets 25-16, 25-22 to take home the bronze medal. The team is coached by Steve Felker, Sarah Clinton. Team members: Grace Mazur, Lauryn D’Aurora, Taylor Morrison, Jamie Mataseje, Rae Delsey, Karmen Krug, Emily Gondar, Shaelyn Francis, Makayla Costa, Maya Lee, Kate LaFleur, Katie McKenna U18 — Niagara Invitation­al 18U Tournament. In pool play MVC lost to Smash in a 25-12, 23-25, 13-15 set match, followed up by taming Kingston Pegasus 25-18, 25-12, and losing to the Etobicoke Titans 23-25, 25-17, 14-16. For the bronze medal match, MVC took over Kitchener-Waterloo Predators winning 28-26, 25-19. Team is coached by Larissa Puhach-Byckalo, Dan Byckalo, Doug McKerlie.
