RE: President pay projected to surpass $400,000 cap (March 4)

In November 2013, the Mohawk Foundation Board of Directors and the Mohawk Board of Governors agreed there was a compelling case for appointing one president to lead the college and the foundation. We both required a leader with strategic vision, a passion for postsecondary education and a tireless work ethic.

Ron McKerlie’s track record shows that our boards made the right decision. In short order, Ron has charted a bold direction for both the college and the foundation, elevated our fundraising efforts and secured major gifts and government investments for transformative projects, including The Joyce Centre for Partnership & Innovation and Mohawk’s outreach into the community through the City School initiative. Under Ron’s leadership, the foundation is delivering outstanding value to our generous donors and the college is making significant investments for current and future generations of Mohawk students.

Going forward, the foundation board will work with the Mohawk board to ensure that we continue to be fully compliant with executive compensation requirements set out by the province, ensure transparency and do so by the government’s prescribed September deadline. We will also continue to set high expectations and hold our president accountable for meeting ambitious goals and making Mohawk an even greater place to learn for all students. Joe Parker, Chair, Mohawk Board of Governors and Gary Nelson, Chair, Mohawk Foundation Board of Directors
