BASEF winners celebrated at Mohawk

The 57th annual Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair awards ceremony sponsored by ArcelorMittal Dofasco was held Tuesday night at Mohawk College. Here are the winners:

Best-in-Fair: Sabrina Mogus from Emily Carr Public School, Halton District School Board (HDSB); second: Jack Mogus from Garth Webb Secondary School, HDSB; third: Andres Lombo from St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB)

Best High School Project: Jack Mogus, Garth Webb Secondary School, HDSB

Best Junior Project: Sabrina Mogus, Emily Carr Public School, HDSB

Chairman’s Award: Declan Allan from Oakville Christian School

Five high school projects were selected to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles: Margaret Williams from Ancaster High School, Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board; Jack Mogus from Garth Webb Secondary School, HDSB; Andres Lombo from St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, HCDSB; Arielle Ainabe from Garth Webb Secondary School, HDSB; Camila Moran-Hidalgo from Westdale Secondary School, HWDSB.
