16U Black team played up an age division and won the Division 2 Tier 1 Gold medal at the OVA 17U Provincial Championships in Waterloo. In the final round of 16, MVC 16U Black defeated the BYVC Tornadoes 25-10, 25-19 and Forest City 17U Blue 25-16, 25-18 in the quarter-finals. 16U Black took on South County 17U Black winning 23-25, 25-15, 15-7 in the semifinals. In the championship match against the Selects 00, MVC 16U Black came back from a 13-23 deficit in the first set, to win 25-23, 25-17 and the Gold medal. The MVC 16U Black team is coached by Peter Stratford of Burlington, Christine Kalata and Carrie Kalata of Oakville. MVC 16U Black players include Sophie Hollingshead and Ella Carter of Hamilton; Paige Messier, Christina Stratford, Meghan Shannon and Lauren Hebert of Burlington, Laura Bishop of Lynden, Amy Simunic and Alexie Chevrier of Hannon and Emily Keeting of Milton.
