Juno-winning Hamilton singer-songwriter Harrison Kennedy has released his eighth solo album “Who You Tellin’” a collection of original country blues songs. Turbo Street Funk is a group of New Orleans-style street buskers from Toronto with big horns and a knack for inflicting good times. If you’ve seen Blue Rodeo recently, you may have noticed a newcomer to the band — multi-instrumentalist Jim Bowskill playing some brilliant mandolin and steel pedal guitar. Bowskill, who was nominated for a Juno when he was just 14, performs with harmonica virtuoso Carlos del Junco. A great double-bill blues matinee takes place Saturday, April 22, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the Corktown pub, 175 Young St. Longtime Hamilton favourites Trickbag are teaming up with fellow local veterans Smoke Wagon Blues Band for a double CD release. KRIEF
Patrick Krief is a Montreal singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist best known for his work with The Dears. Krief left The Dears in 2015 to record a double album “Automatic/Red Blue.” He’ll be performing songs from the album Sunday, April 23, at This Ain’t Hollywood, 345 James St. N., with local roots rockers Ethan Paxton and the Brakemen.
