Plant Faire

The first Royal Botanical Gardens Plant Faire is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The day will include vendors featuring unique seeds and plants, RBG Royal Select plants, presentati­ons, displays and children’s activities. Compost days

The City of Hamilton starts its first Compost and Woodchip Giveaways on Saturday. Residents are asked to bring their own buckets or containers, shovel and elbow grease to the giveaway location starting at 7 a.m. Locations on Saturday include the Ancaster public works yard, 501 Shaver Rd.; Dundas public works yard, 189 King St. E. More giveaway events are planned for May 6 and 13.

What a catch

Drop your line along Port Dover’s pier and riverfront for the 20th annual Port Dover Perch Derby, which begins Saturday at 7 a.m. and ends May 13 at 7 p.m. There are tagged perch worth thousands of dollars in prize money to be caught, daily prize draws.
