Woman injured trying to help stranded driver on Red Hill

-

A 36-year-old Hamilton woman was seriously injured after being hit by a car on the Red Hill Valley Parkway while trying to help another driver stranded in a ditch.

The woman’s medical condition is now listed as “critical but stable,” Hamilton police said Monday.

She was struck shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday after stopping in the west-side shoulder and attempting to cross the parkway on foot to reach a driver in the east-side ditch.

She was struck by a car driven by a 39-yearold Hamilton man, who was attempting to merge on the Upper Red Hill Valley Parkway on-ramp.

Several people stopped to help while they waited for paramedics, police said. No one else was injured.

Wet roads were a factor in the crash, police said. Speed does not appear to be a factor, according to police.

The collision reconstruction unit continues to investigate.
