Denied picnic is a betrayal

RE: Picnic nixed for Webster’s Falls park (June 9)

To the Hamilton Conservation Authority: you have been so successful in advertising The Waterfall Capital of the world bringing in so many visitors. You should have more consideration for the volunteers that make our community special.

Without the dedicated Optimist Club of Greensville you would have been left with a crumbled bridge 17 years ago. Also Optimist Park was been built and maintained by volunteers that care deeply about our community. A fundraiser selling food to hungry visitors and in turn these volunteers put it all back to make the area a better place. You have the gall to deny a permit to use of the space for the time-honoured tradition on this our 150th year of Confederation.

It is what an absolute shame that you failed in this “reflection”! The almighty dollar wins again.
