HAMILTON OLDTIMERS’ BASEBALL ORGANIZATI­ON 55+ Division — Wayne Pryde, Bert Schenk, Dan Creechan, Al Purins, Irwin Koziel and Harvey Sahker each smacked three hits to lead the Tigers to a 15-4 win over the Cardinals. Rich Salvatore and Chris Fraser each had two hits for the winners. Rod Currie had three hits for the Cardinals, while Bob McDermott, Darrell Smith, Carl Sassmann and Brian Avery each had two hits for the Cards. In the other game, Mike Parisi and Greg Stoddart each belted four hits to lead the A’s to a 14-2 win over the Dodgers. Jim Johnston, Frank Simioni, Ted Pritchard, Ian Robertson and Stephen McClure each had two hits for the A’s. Stephen Biback, Ron Bocock and Brian Fraser each had two hits for the Dodgers. HAMILTON OLYMPIC CLUB Athletics Ontario junior/senior championsh­ip in Windsor — Hamilton Olympic Club athlete, Brittany Stenekes, had a super race in the junior girls’ 100m hurdles. Her final time of 13.83 sec gave her the silver medal in a very tight finish. Christian Janzen, competing in the junior boys’ 6 kg hammer throw came in fourth with a 43.75m result. Royal Canadian Legion’s District B Ontario qualifying meet in Brampton — In midget boys division, Nifaiya Robinson had a busy time as he took the silver medal in the 100m with a personal best time of 11.31 sec. Later, he took the gold medal in both the 200m (23.11sec) and 300m (37.22sec). Domenic Barresi followed him in the two shorter sprints coming fifth and sixth with 11.80 sec and 24.61 sec, respective­ly, while Daniel Reader chased both, finishing sixth and eighth with his 11.88 sec and 24.74 sec results. Domenic also produced a 5.10m leap to come fourth in the long jump event. In the 300m, Declan Sutherland came fifth in 38.82 sec and Lachlan Perigord claimed the silver medal in the 800m with a fine run of 2:10.67. Daniel Andric had a long day, setting three personal bests in the process. He threw the 4 kg hammer 35.95m to earn the silver medal; tossed the 1 kg discus 31.07m for fourth; then rounded out the day with the 600g javelin and an eighth place 29.09m. In the midget girls’ division, Natasha Salmon took home the bronze medal in both her events: 3 kg hammer throw (25.14m) and 3 kg shot put (9.39m). Both were personal bests. The youth boys division saw the HOC athletes gain more medals. Randy Tshikuna took home two bronze medals, both being personal best results. In the 100m, he ran 11.33 sec, while his time in the 200m was 23.68 sec. More bronze came from Alec Purnell in the 800m, as he clocked 2:00.85. He also earned a silver medal and a PB with his 50.22 sec finish in the 400m. Mackenzie Barnard was the recipient of two fifth place finishes: 100m in 12.76 sec and a leap of 4.84m in the youth girls’ long jump event. Cree Bell won the silver medal in the 200m with a 26.53 sec result. Closely following her was Nia Ebos with a time of 27. 34 sec. Nia also earned the bronze medal in the 100m hurdles (17.35sec) and came fifth in the long jump with 4.73m.

ON THE LANES

With Bowlerama Stoney Creek now closed, the final Sunday Sports league champions are “Between The Uprights” with Adana Jackson, Tracy Berka, Mike Rouse and Wayne Jackson who won by the smallest margin possible, one half of a point. Late season high scores are Debbie Whitfield 533 with a season high 236 game, Guy Gamache 531 with a season high 222 game, John Leger 524 with a 193 high, Debbie Daoust 516 (175,173), Janet Katz a personal best 498 triple with a season high 189 single, Maryann Price 441 (191) and Mike Rouse 435 (155). The Sunday Sports League will be moving to Burlington Bowl next season. Roy Katz picked up a souvenir, the ten pin he left on his last ball. Val Ciach-Link had the honour of throwing the last balls down the lanes and fittingly threw three solid strikes. Skyway Lanes Veteran Service league champions are the Ford Racing duo of Pat Horton and Mike Ellis with the M&M&A Smartie trio second with Denise, Jim and Edward Margueratt. High averages were Ellis at 205 and Ed Margueratt at 199. High triples went to Mike Ellis 764, 734 & 730 and Ed Margueratt 674 with high singles Ed Margueratt 279 & 278 and Mike Ellis 279. On the last week of the season, Barb Roy was plus 95 with a brilliant 238 single, & Denise Margueratt a season high 488 triple. Most improved bowlers were Travis Fraser and Denise Margueratt at plus five. Special thanks to Sylvester Salve & Lynda Rees from the V.S.L. club.
