Nardini Specialties is celebrating 40 years of keeping stomachs full and mouths watering with their famous store made Italian products. The longstanding success of the Stoney Creek grocery store is rooted in its flavourful all-natural sausages, which continue to be made daily.

While its grocery offerings have expanded substantially since its early days, customers continue to appreciate the friendly, personal service from which the family-run business has never waivered.

“We make everything from scratch,” explains Lisa DeFelice, who owns the store with husband Mario DeFelice. “We’re known for making everything homemade, especially our sausages which are our biggest seller.”

The sausages are made with 100 per cent pork and come in various flavours: mild, hot, garlic, breakfast and liver. Customers frequently ask what they add to the sausages that make them taste so good. “We tell them it’s what we don’t put in them,” says Mario. “They’re all natural and gluten-free, with no filler.”

Their commitment to homemade goodness goes into a lot more than sausages. The store now makes a wide selection of meat and pasta products such as meatballs, spaghetti sauce, lasagna and porchetta.

The store also features a complete deli section, cheeses and olives, as well as its popular hot table that serves a selection of delectable lunch options. Patrons enjoy the veal parmigiana sandwich, daily pasta, soup of the day, cooked sausage, as well as other tasty dishes.

Nardini Specialties is proud to have been the recipient of many Readers Choice awards, including awards for takeout, catering services and more. Loyal customers have been instrumental in the store’s longevity. In fact, the grocery store recently moved to a larger location to accommodate the growing customer base and the expanded product offerings to meet their needs.

The store now offers fifty brands of pasta and a huge assortment of Italian oils and balsamics to match every taste. To help make the right purchase, customers rely on grocery manager, Carlo Gambale, for his expert advice on each product – from Italian Estate olive oils and balsamic vinegars to artisan pastas and truffles.

Still very much a family business, regular and new customers are encouraged to feel at home as they shop – complimentary espresso and an accompanying sample of food is always available.

“Being a smaller store, it’s easy for a customer to find us on the floor and ask us about our products,” says Carlo. “We’ll open a bottle of olive oil for a customer to taste if they need help deciding on what to buy.” Additionally, Nardini stocks hard-to-find bath and body products that are produced in Italy, as well as a select assortment of housewares.

This 40th anniversary year, Mario and Lisa are especially thankful for the community’s loyal support throughout the years.

“It’s been a blessing to have this store and see it prosper, all thanks to our customers,” says Lisa. “We’ve grown with the community.”

Nardini Specialties is holding a 40th Anniversary customer appreciation BBQ on Saturday, September 23, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration that will feature a barbecue and numerous store vendors offering free product samples.
