Gridiron Marauders head off to Guelph

-

The storyline for McMaster’s visit to Guelph on Saturday — 1 p.m. at Alumni Stadium — appears pretty obvious. Can one of the highestscoring football teams in Ontario (the Gryphons) dent the armour of the stingiest defensive team in the province (the Marauders)? If the answer is no, Mac wins. While Guelph is on a two-game winning streak, those victories have come against Windsor and Toronto. Earlier in the season when they faced good teams in Ottawa and Western, they lost. That said, both were in overtime.

Mac’s concern shouldn’t be with stopping the Gryphons, though. It’s defence should be fine.

The concern should be in wondering whether its offence will be able to score enough to win.

The Marauders are the secondlowest-scoring team with a winning record in the province right now. And Guelph’s defence has been good.

If Mac can find the offensive rhythm it looked like it was finding in the second half last week, the maroon should come home for homecoming next Saturday with a 3-1 record and the soft stretch of its schedule coming up.
