Elliott’s back and not talking about Cabo

- CINDY BOREN

Ezekiel Elliott returned to the Dallas Cowboys this week after serving his sixgame suspension for domestic violence allegations and deemed it prudent to let his play do most of the talking.

Especially when he was peppered with questions about how he spent nearly all of the suspension in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

“I’m not really going to talk about it,” Elliott told reporters after practice Wednesday. “It’s behind me. I’m just trying to start a new page, a new chapter. I’m going to thank this Cowboys organization for being behind me. Thank my family, my team and my friends for just supporting me through that time and especially the Cowboys fans who’ve stuck by me through this tough time and haven’t lost faith in me. But I’m not talking about it anymore. This is going to be the last time you hear me speak about it, so please don’t even ask me about it.”

Elliott, looking thinner and more buff, vowed he was starting a “new page, a new chapter,” but the Cabo questions kept coming despite his “please don’t even ask me about it” plea.

Elliott returns to a team that lost the first three games of his suspension, but has regrouped to win its last three and remain alive for a National Football League wild-card berth. The Cowboys will need to win their last two regular-season games, Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks at home and New Year’s Eve against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Elliott only wanted to address the Seahawks and, when reporters kept up the off-the-field questions, he called off the interview after about a minute of interaction. “All right. I’m done,” he said as he left the locker-room. “Thank you.”

Elliott ended his two-month fight over the suspension and began serving it by missing the Nov. 12 game against the Atlanta Falcons.
