ON THE LANES

Nick Murphy and Brian Ward have their first perfect 300 games. Murphy started with the 300, than added 237, 249 & 193 for a 979 set. Ward saved the best for last as after 206 & 187, he recorded his 300 for a 693 triple. Brian has three 299 games and his brother Mark has a pair of 300’s along with a pair of 299’s. With a pair of 300 games this season, Mick Anderer has a career total of seven. Four days after turning 20, Billy Craig, 211 average, achieved two firsts with a 299 game and 804 (237,268,299) triple, at Skyway Lanes. Ryan Dickenson needed three strikes in the tenth frame of his third game for an even 800 triple. After two strikes, a late falling seven pin gave him the third strike and a 235 game and the 800 triple to go along with an earlier 827. HAMILTON SMASH As of yesterday, Hamilton Smash Volleyball has now won 21 OVA medals as a club this season, equalling their result from the entire season last year. Even better is the progress that teams have made in playing at higher and higher levels. Hamilton Girls’ Field Lacrosse Winter Skills Clinic for new and returning players. Girls ages 7 and up are welcome to give Canada’s National Summer Sport a try. Registrati­on is $60 for all eight sessions or $12 per session drop in rate. Winter clinic continues to March 10, 11 a.m. to noon. (No clinic Feb. 10). Women’s field lacrosse is played outdoors from April to July. New this season will be a house league for young girls age 4 to 9 years, from May to July. The winter clinic introduces lacrosse fundamenta­ls to players and parents. Participan­ts require a mouth guard. Sticks can be borrowed at the session for those who do not have one.
