GIARDINA, Concetta (nee Lumia)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Concetta on February 10, 2018 in her 92nd year. Reunited in love with her husband Pietro, welcoming her with open arms her son Giacomo, her sister Giovanna Cepparo, her brother Calogero Lumia and her parents Croce and Nicolo Lumia. Loving mother of Maria (Vince) Barone, Nicolo (Gudrun) Giardina and Carmelina (Michael) Roche. Cherished Nonna/Grandma of Angela, ConnieMarie, Charles, Anita, Peter, Nicolas, Concetta and Patrick. Bisnonna of seven great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by family in Belgium and the United States. Concetta was born on June 16, 1926 in Racalmuto Sicily, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1951. She was a former resident of both Welland and Hamilton. Our mother was known for her love of cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening and enjoyed spending time with her family. Special thank you to the staff of St. Peter’s at Chedoke for their compassionate and professional caring during her stay. Visitation at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, 50 Brucedale Avenue East, Hamilton on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Welland. Donations in Concetta’s memory may be made to St. Peter’s at Chedoke or St. Peter’s Hospital Centre for Healthy Aging.
