Teen charged after weekend assault

Hamilton police say a 16-year-old girl has been charged after an assault outside a plaza on Main Street East last weekend.

The assault took place outside 581 Main St. E., a small strip mall at the corner of Sanford Avenue South, shortly before midnight on April 14.

The victim — a 16-year-old girl — was taken to hospital with serious but non-lifethreat­ening injuries.

The suspect, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.
