ON THE LANES

Len Garinger Jr. was halfway to the ultimate score in 10-pin bowling, a 900 triple, as he started with 18 strikes in a row at Skyway Lanes with games of 300 and 277 for a 577 double. Then needing a 223 for his second career 800 triple, a four pin spare in the tenth frame enabled him to tally an 804 triple. After the 18 strikes he left up two pins, then added four more strikes. The 300 is his fifth and his other 800 was an 816. The oh-so-close 299 game was recorded by Aaron Bouchard and Mike Scargall at Skyway Lanes and Ron Machida at Burlington Bowl. With the season almost over there has been 18 perfect games and 10 triples of 800 or better, along with six games of 299.

Also at Skyway, Nick Murphy fired his highest four game score with 1,033, beating a 1,018. Lionel Lewis Jr. dealt a 290, Paul Gibson 280, Roy Ward, Kevin Kartonchik and Conrad Merkir 279, Allan Oliver and John Cherriere 269 and Del Belanger 268. With two weeks remaining for the Jonarc bunch, Art Oliver Jr. holds a 234 average followed by Travis Cauley 227 and Ryan Dickinson 224. The Hamilton record high triple of 235 by Lionel Lewis Jr. has been broken by his son Matthew as he posted a 237 in Wednesday play at Skyway. Another member of the talented Lewis family is Lionel’s son London, eight years old and with a 108 average. He finished with five strikes in a row for a new high single of 184 and new high triple of 449 (125,140,184).
