SCIME, Matilde

Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 83, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton. Matilde was born on May 2, 1935 in Racalmuto, Sicily to the late Giovanni and the late Giovanna Pomo. Beloved wife of the late Salvatore Scime for over 64 years. Cherished mother of Lena (Vincenzo) Pascia, Joanne (Vincenzo) Cicero and Antonio Scime. Loving Nonna of Joseph (Sabrina) Cicero, Michael (Jennifer) Pascia, Adam Pascia(Erica) and Daniel Cicero. Proud Bisnonna of Santino Pascia, Bianca Cicero and Emelia Cicero. Dear sister of Concettina (Luigi) Macaluso, Lena (Faustino) Sferrezza, Carmelo, Carmelina, Giovanni, Lilo, Pino, Mario and their spouses. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Italy and Canada. Matilde came from Racalmuto, Sicily to Canada in 1951 and worked at the Cotton Mill (50’s and 60’s), Beauty Industries (60’s) and eventually retired from Mohawk College. Devoted to her family; Matilde loved spending time making precious memories with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special thank you to Joanne Unelli and St Joseph’s Hospital for being with Matilde in her time of need. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be said on Monday at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at All Souls Catholic Church, Barton Street West, Hamilton on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington.
