Passed away at the QHC Belleville General Hospital on Sunday, September 30, 2018 in his 78th year after a 4 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Son of the late Henry and Annabelle Phieffer. Beloved husband of Beth Phieffer (nee Bird) of 48 years. Loving father of James Phieffer (Kathy), Elizabeth Phieffer (Frank), Lura Turriff (Greg) and Kathleen Down (Jeff) all of Belleville. Adored Papa of Emily, Joey, Hannah, Andy, Katie, Tim, Jacob, Matthew, and Madison. Dear brother of Rosemary Istead (Ken), Rick Phieffer (Adele), Fred Phieffer (Jayne) and Terry Phieffer. Predecease­d by brother Don Phieffer and survived by sister-in-law Marie. Loved by his many nieces and nephews. Neil was an exemplary long-distance trucker for 40 years, a volunteer driver for the Canadian Cancer Society, and proud member of both the Knights of Columbus and Alhambra. After retirement his life revolved around his children and grandchild­ren. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at the BURKE FUNERAL HOME (613 968-6968), 150 Church St., Belleville on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Read. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. Sincere thanks to the staff of BGH for their care and compassion.
