Grow with Google tour comes to Hamilton

Google’s Grow with Google tour came to Hamilton Friday for a one-day event to look at “advancing economic opportunity” through digital skills training for small business owners, entrepreneurs and other individuals.

The tour is part of a larger effort to provide Canadians with digital skills training through online tools, resources and cross-country events. Last month, the company announced $2 million in grants to support digital skills training.

Hamilton was selected as one of six Canadian cities — that include Edmonton, Surrey and St. John’s — because of the “exciting business and technology growth the city is experiencing,” said Sabrina Geremia, Country Director, Google Canada.

More than 300 people attended the event at the Hamilton Public Library.

“The internet is an incredible platform for growth,” said Geremia. “With the right resources and digital skills, like the Google IT Support Professional Certificate and Grow with Google workshops, individuals can reach new heights and small business owners can connect with consumers in the right moment, anywhere in the world.”
