ATM stolen from Norfolk gas station
PORT ROWAN — Provincial police in Norfolk County are investigating after a pickup truck reversed into a gas station during an ATM theft. The robbery took place Dec. 3 around 12:15 a.m. at an Esso gas station on Front Road in Port Rowan.
Police say suspects gained entry into the store and were unsuccessful in their attempts to remove an ATM. They then used a pickup truck to reverse into the store before making off with the cash machine. The truck caused thousands of dollars in damage. Police later found it in a ditch.
In Hamilton, police warned in April of a rash of ATM thefts in which suspects drove vehicles through store entrances. OPP warned of a similar incident at a County of Brant gas station and at a Caledonia drugstore last month. Anyone with information about the Port Rowan incident is asked to contact police at 1-888310-1122.
