Police probe sudden death in Hamilton lobby

-

Hamilton police are investigating a sudden death downtown after a woman’s body was found in the lobby of an apartment building early Friday.

Emergency crews were called to 226 Rebecca St. near Cathcart Street at 5:27 a.m. after a security guard found a woman found without vital signs in the lobby.

Police say the security guard initially believed the woman was sleeping.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police are still trying to determine the woman’s identity and notify family. She was not a resident of the building.

Police say the death is not considered suspicious. The coroner has been notified and an autopsy will reveal more, police said.
