WHAT HE SAID

-

Three players — defenceman Cameron Supryka and forwards Eric Henderson and Jan Jenik — made their debuts with the Bulldogs over the weekend. Here is how head coach Dave Matsos summed up his first impressions following the team’s win over Kingston Saturday:

On Supryka:

“I really like what I see. He’s a big kid, skates as good as anybody I’ve seen. We’ve got to get his confidence and everything back and he’ll be fine. I thought he put up a good performance last night, his first as a Bulldog, and I thought he matched it tonight.”

On Henderson:

“He’s just a Steady Eddie, I’m going to win the faceoff, I’m going to get pucks in, I’m going to battle, I’m going to make plays when they’re there. That’s what you expect out of 20 year olds, but sometimes it’s not as easy as you think. He’s been great.”

On Jenik:

“It’s going to take time. I think we’ve got to understand that he’s been playing overseas his whole life, so our systems are different, the size of the ice is different, there’s lots of things that are different ... It’s a time thing. Stick on the video, stick on the systems. He’s a clever kid.”
