Someone forgot to tell Mother Nature, but it is spring and we’ve got lots of outdoor and indoor events you can dig into this weekend.

Plant Faire

Out come the happy gardeners! The Royal Botanical Gardens Plant Faire is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day will include vendors featuring unique seeds and plants, RBG Royal Select plants, presentati­ons, displays and more. The event is indoors at the RBG Centre, 680 Plains Rd. W., Burlington. Admission is free, donations welcome. Parking at the RBG Centre.

Rabies clinic

City of Hamilton is hosting a low cost rabies vaccine clinic Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 345 Jones Rd., Stoney Creek. Cost is just $25, cash only on a first come first serves basis. Dogs and cats must be on a leash or in a carrier.

Compost days

The City of Hamilton starts its first Compost and Wood-chip Giveaways on Saturday. Residents are asked to bring their own buckets or containers, shovel and elbow grease to the giveaway location starting at 7 a.m. Locations this Saturday include the Ancaster public works yard, 501 Shaver Rd., and Joe Sams Leisure Park, 752 Centre Rd., Waterdown. More giveaway events are planned May 4 and 11. Bring your own containers.

Rain barrels

Hamilton’s annual rain barrel sale runs on Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon, at Mohawk College, Fennell Campus (southwest parking lot), 135 Fennell Ave. W. Rain barrels are $45 including tax. Cash, debit and credit accepted. You can also preorder online at hamilton.ca/rainbarrel­sale. Have it delivered to your home for an additional $15.

Spring bike race

The 26th Annual Paris to Ancaster Bike Race is a ride for research, with all funds raised supporting St. Joseph’s Hospital. Whether you’re looking for a family ride or are new to cycling, there’s something for everyone. The race Expo and Demo with vendors and more is Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ancaster Community Centre, 385 Jerseyvill­e Rd. W., Ancaster. Registrati­ons and package/plate pick ups are Saturday only, at the Expo. Rides are on Sunday. There will be no package pick up on Sunday. Pet an Alpaca

Ever pet an Alpaca? Here’s your chance. The Alpaca Ontario Spring Show is Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at West Niagara Agricultur­al Centre, 7402 Mud St. W., Grassie. It’s a hands-on experience where you can walk an alpaca, watch shearing, a fashion show, silent auction, shows, vendors and more.

Game day

If you want to check out the inaugural ForgeFC soccer game at Tim Hortons Field Saturday at 1 p.m., tickets have been distribute­d and will not be sold at the gate. Call 905-527-3674.

Beautiful Alleys

Saturday is Beautiful Alley’s Let’s Pick It Up! day. Communitie­s can register their alley clean up by emailing hamiltonal­leys@gmail.com, or volunteer at a project. Clean ups will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with command central at Powell Park, 56 Birch Ave.

Walking history

Red Coats and Black Powder. Get a taste of what it would have been like to be a soldier in the War of 1812. Members of the recreated Upper Canada Militia and the 89th Regiment of Food will be training at Westfield Heritage Village. Watch the group practice battle drills, manoeuvres and tactics on Sunday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Free with your regular admission. Art sale

The Art Gallery of Hamilton annual four day art sale gives you the chance to purchase works created by Canadian artists, many of whom are from the Hamilton area. Entrance to the art sale is free and is open Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, noon to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. The AGH is at 123 King St. W.

‘Calendar Girls’

Dundas Little Theatre presents Tim Firth's adaptation of the hit Motion Picture that depicts a group of English ladies who decide to create a fund raising calendar of themselves au natural. “Calendar Girls“runs through to May 12 with show times this weekend on Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.

‘Skin Flick’

Binbrook Little Theatre presents Norm Foster’s “Skin Flick”, directed by John Thompson at Binbrook Memorial Hall, 2600 Regional Rd. 56.

An unemployed couple decide to make their own adult film to generate quick cash, what could go wrong? The show runs to May 11. Show times this weekend are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Saturday’s dinner theatre starts at 6:30. Tickets are $20.

Play On

Ancaster Community Theatre presents this comedy by Rick Abbott until May 4 at St. John’s Parish Hall, 37 Halson St. Weekend shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $22.

Car club

More than 400 vendors will be gathering at the Road Runners Car Club’s 35th annual Swap Meet and Car Show at the Ancaster Fairground­s, 630 Trinity Rd. S., Ancaster, Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is $8, children under 12 get in for free. roadrunner­scarclub.com
