-

Passed away peacefully on April 23, 2019 at the age of 90. John’s whole life was spent trying to make people smile and bring joy to everyone. He was a retiree of Firestone, and a large advocate for the unions and supporter for the NDP. He was a proud and strong member of the St. Columba Presbyterian Church. A long time member of the Masonic Lodge, and Rameses Shriner’s where he spent a number of years helping in children’s hospitals to make the children laugh and smile (as the clown Hartz). John was also a Santa Claus at Eastgate Square for 20 plus years and had a passion for antiquing, making crafts and performing magic. Dearly loved husband of Betty (nee Harris) for 68 years. Loving father to his predeceased son John Walter (Sandra) and father in-law to Al Kovacs. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Lisa Kovacs, Tara (Mark) Aubrey, and Michael Bolton. Adored by his greatgranddaughters, Deanna, Kerstin and Marrissa. He leaves behind his loving siblings Les and Beatrice and many extended family members. A special thanks to all the statf at Heritage Green Nursing Home for the great care and friendship.
