Driver assaulted over the price of cab fare

-

Hamilton police are investigating an alleged fight over the price of a fare that sent a cab driver to hospital early Thursday morning. Officers and paramedics were called just before 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 26 to the area of Main Street East and Catharine Street South for reports that a taxi driver was assaulted. Police say a man and woman flagged down the taxi and got inside in the area of 38 King William St. It’s believed a verbal fight and then a physical fight unfolded over the cost of the trip. Police said they also believe a hate comment was made. The pair fled on foot. Police plan to review video in order to get a description of the suspects. The driver suffered minor injuries, including cuts and scrapes on an arm and redness in the facial area, police said.
