Meghan Patrick is one of the hottest acts in Canadian country, winning Female Artist of the Year honours in 2017 and 2018 at the Canadian Country Music Awards. THE FRANKLIN ELECTRIC

The Franklin Electric is a Junonominated Montreal alt-folk band fronted by singer-songwriter John Matte. Hamilton singer-songwriter Michelle Titian hosts “A Journey of Recovery,” an evening of music and art exploring mental health and addiction at McMaster University’s high-tech LIVELab theatre (on the second floor of the Psychology Building) on Friday, Feb. 28, 8 p.m. Art exhibits by Sandra Antoniani and Artists at McMaster. New Hamilton resident Lindy Vopnfjord hosts a family-friendly fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 29, 5 to 7 p.m., for Ethiopian human rights activist Kidus Mehalu at This Ain’t Hollywood, 345 James St. N., with performances from local musicians Corin Raymond, Lisa Winn, Blind Mule, Deeps, Shari & Johnny, Alfie Smith, Kirby and Andy Griffiths. Hamilton’s favourite sax player Sonny Del-Rio celebrates 60 years of rock and roll with a new double DVD featuring 20 tracks of performances with his band the 5 Star Revue. Sonny will have DVDs for sale Saturday, Feb. 29 at 2 p.m. when he and the 5 Star Revue take the stage at Stonewalls, 339 York Blvd. Sonny will also be joined by his longtime friends Trickbag. $10 at the door.
