City staff should do the right thing

-

Re: Eyes on Hamilton

Really? City council has to ask city employees to pick up and/or report to the appropriate departments any instances of garbage, litter, or graffiti seen during their travels throughout the course of their workdays? I would have thought that for employees of The Corporation of the City of Hamilton, such a function would be automatic, that pride of place would govern their actions.

What ever happened to that “old school” adage that if you saw something that needed doing, you took care of it? “Not my problem” doesn’t cut it. A phone call, text message, or radio report most likely would suffice. Communication is so easy today. Use it! And to those employees who are already doing their part, please accept the heartfelt thanks of this grateful citizen. Really!
