We should not sanitize our history

Re: Removing statues

The removal and destruction of statues is trying to sanitize history. History is our past. Whether you agree or disagree with what the monument signifies, the fact is that it is part of our past. It would be better for those who wish to tear them down to educate what the monument signifies. To tear down statues puts our society on a similar road like George Orwell’ s Novel 1984. Education is the key to not repeat the mistakes of our past, not the destruction of history.
