It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Doris Goodwin, peacefully with her family by her side, on January 9, 2021 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Thomas Joseph (1998) known as "Gopher" to his family. Cherished and devoted mother to Bob (Rosalie), Patricia Amos (Dave), the late Matthew ( Anne), Karen Moyer (Ross), Laurie Ellis (Mike) and Tom (Angela). Predeceased by her infant children Paul Thomas and Louise Anne. Loving and proud grandmother "Gram" of Marc, Kevin, Brenna (Stephen), David (Julie), Tara, Kate (Jordan), Amy, Matthew (Leanne), Emily, Meredith, Ross (Cassandra), Laura (Andrew) and Andrew. Precious great-grandmother of Owen, Emma, Lily, Avery, Aidan, Desmond, Maverick, Cassius, Claire and Alice. Predeceased by her grandson Paul Thomas Moyer. Doris is predeceased by her loving parents Robert and Doris Ellis. Cherished sister of Harriet Moody (late Bob), Jean Kirk (Roy) and Robert Ellis (Lynn). Dear sister-in-law of Joe (late Mary), Francis (late Colleen), Ralph (late Noreen) and predeceased by Rita (Art), Connie, Jim (Maureen), and Gerald (Joyce/Nora) Goodwin. Doris will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. Doris was passionate about her family. On any given day you would find family visiting or Doris babysitting one of her precious grandchildren. Her open hearted, boundless love of children was a defining trait. She made Christmas a very special time filled with many wonderful traditions and joyful memories. She also loved singing, dancing, gardening, sewing, cooking, cake decorating and travelling. Doris and her sisters shared a special gift of music and often led the singing at our family gatherings. Doris also shared a special friendship with her late sister-in-law, Mary Goodwin, her dance partner at family weddings, and with her late aunt, Elsie Jackson, one of the "September birthday girls". Doris will be remembered by family and friends for her faith in God, love of family, thoughtful nature and genuine kindness to everyone. Special thanks to the staff at Arbour Creek Care Centre for the care and compassion they gave to our mom. Thank you to Drs. Irving (late) and Richard Levy, mom's family physicians for many years. A heartfelt thanks to Dave and Jean Smith, Fran (late Del) Grguras, Carol (late) and Ron Russell, and Katie Brajer for their years of friendship with mom. Special thanks to Father Charlie from Incarnation Parish for his visits. "It takes a village to care for a loved one." Doris is now reunited with her dear husband Tom. Due to current restrictions, a private visitation will be held. A funeral mass will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Good Shepherd would be appreciated by the family.
