Pedestrian safety

I have travelled to places where if a pedestrian stands at the side of the road and puts their arm out, a vehicle has to stop for them to cross. It causes drivers to be more aware of people and their surroundings. It could be a start to slowing drivers down. Joanne Bobiak, Hamilton
