Royal Botanical Gardens to conduct aerial sprays

A low-flying helicopter will be conducting aerial sprays between May 15 and June 10 between 5 and 8 a.m. to control the spongy moth caterpilla­r population, the Royal Botanical Gardens said. In Hamilton, Arboretum, North Shore Cootes Paradise Nature Sanctuary, Beret Tract Nature Sanctuary and Rock Garden in Hamilton, as well as Hendrie Valley Nature Sanctuary in Burlington, will be sprayed. Each location will receive two aerial sprays seven to 10 days apart. Access to the properties will be restricted during the time of spray.
