The Hamilton Spectator

Poilievre’s pals

-

I just have one question for the author of “Unfair portrayal of Poilievre’s campaign” (May 5): Picture an angry mob in the thousands showing up at your doorstep. Some claim to have weapons, others stay up all night blaring their trucks air horns and swearing in front of your kids, while urinating and defecating on your lawn. They hurl insults and threaten you and your neighbours. While proudly carrying swastikas, rebel flags and placards that read f--k (the author), and happily trample the sacred gravestones and monuments that honour your beloved ancestors. Would you welcome the protesters with open arms or be on the phone constantly with the police, local politicians and The Spectator constantly complaining? The “Freedom Convoy” was not a protest, but an illegal occupation and all it proved in front of the world is that Canada, like its southern neighbour, is full of bigotry and hatred, and men like Mr. Poilievre embrace and manipulate it for their own political agenda.
