Brantford missing person case is now a homicide investigation

- NICOLE O’REILLY

Brantford police say the disappearance of Brayden Ferrall is now a homicide investigation after the 22-year-old’s body was found in Brant County earlier this month.

Ferrall was reported missing in February after he failed to return home, police said. He was last seen by friends on Feb. 18. In late March, that case was transferred to criminal investigation section detectives and police announced that foul play was suspected.

Then a body was found May 3 on Campbell Road in Brant County, Ontario Provincial Police said.

It took until May 11 for the Office of Coroner to identify the body as Ferral. The coroner concluded that he was the victim of a homicide. The major crime unit has taken over the case and continues to investigate.

Police have not released details on cause of death or any suspect information, citing the “active and ongoing investigation.” It is not believed to be a random incident.

Police said they are working closely with Ferrall’s family to provide support.

“During the missing person investigation, we have seen an outpouring of concern from many of Brayden’s friends,” Det. Const. Justin Torek said in a statement, adding that those who need help can contact victim services.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with information to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the dedicated tip line at 519-756-7050 ext. 2800 or FerrallMissingPerson@police.brantford.on.ca
