$1.5M of cocaine seized

A probe into a stolen SUV led Hamilton police to seize more than $1.5 million worth of cocaine Thursday evening.

Police said the seizure came after investigat­ors executed a residentia­l search warrant in the area of Rymal Road East and Upper Sherman Avenue.

Besides a stolen SUV — valued at about $7,000 — investigat­ors say they found 13.2 kilograms of cocaine, three replica firearms, multiple fraudulent vehicle plates and indication­s of drug traffickin­g at the east

Mountain home.

Two women, both of Hamilton, were arrested and charged with several property- and drug-related offences, police said.

The locals — a 36-year-old and a 22-year-old — face a combined 18 charges, including five counts of possession­s of counterfei­t marks, property obtained by crime and possession of cocaine for the purpose of traffickin­g.
