The Hamilton Spectator

Great cartoon

-

Graeme MacKay’s cartoon in the Spectator (May 12) was hilarious, but sadly the subject matter was not. In the early ’60s, a group of us, recent immigrants from Britain and Europe, maintained even then with the amount of road construction being started that soon southern Ontario would be paved in concrete from Lake Ontario to Barrie. The Ford government is rapidly fulfilling those prescient thoughts. A quote from the movie “Field of Dreams” comes to mind. “Build it and they will come.” And when that highway fills up with more traffic, can we expect another one closer to North Bay?
