The eighth annual Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo will be held at the International Centre in Toronto with about 330,000 square feet (30,658 square metres) of custom and competition vehicles of all sorts. The show has returned to its March date after last year’s April showing.

“It’s been a wild ride the past few years,” said show organizer Greg MacPherson. “It’s no understatement to say that we’re ecstatic to be back on our traditional show date at the start of March break.” EBay Motors is the show’s presenting sponsor.

While custom cars, hot rods and tuner cars will make up a large segment of the show, and guests in these arenas include celebrity builders Dave Kindig and Bad Chad Hiltz, there will be a huge amount of motorsport exhibits where fans will be able to learn about their favourite track’s 2023 schedule and special events. MacPherson noted there will be at least 75 motorsport vehicles at this year’s Motorama.

The popular Night of Champions sponsored by Fast Eddie Sportswear will be held Saturday starting at 3 p.m. to pay tribute to competitors in road, oval, and drag racing. Some of the organizations or vehicles at the show include the Canada Heads Up drag race series, the United Racing Series (which includes late models, super stocks and modifieds divisions), and the jet-powered truck of Burlington’s Rick Kopp.

Racing fans interested in Ontario’s oval-track history will be able to view vintage race cars, photos and memorabilia at the Yesterday’s Speedways booth at Motorama with over 400 photos going back to the 1930s.

“The fact that so many tracks and series are part of the show this year is a clear indication that the challenges of the past few years are almost entirely behind us,” said MacPherson. “For a lot of racers and fans, the excitement surrounding the upcoming season starts to build at Motorama.”

This year, Motorama begins Friday and runs through to Sunday. Showtimes are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Last year, the Lego introduced a Top Fuel dragster kit for young race enthusiasts and now the iconic toymaker continues with this trend in North American motorsport with the presentation of a NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro in full race trim.

The Lego Technic’s Camaro is about 11 inches (28 centimetres) long and features 672 pieces, workable steering, an opening hood, and a V8 engine with moving parts.

The kit’s race car number is 75 in honour of celebrating NASCAR’s 75th year of operation. It is the first collaboration between the racing sanction and Lego.
