Hanlyn Collective creates special line to support Tim Hortons camp
‘I wanted to be part of helping kids,’ Binbrook resident says
It was almost a year ago that Donna Hamilton reached out to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps with an idea for a fundraiser.
The Binbrook resident is the owner of Hanlyn Collective, a company that focuses on clothing, blankets and other items made with bamboo fabrics.
“I try to do at least one charity print every single year,” she said.
After a lot of co-ordination work behind the scenes, “it’s finally coming to fruition,” Hamilton said.
On Friday at 11 a.m., the product line — which includes clothing for kids and blankets — will be available for purchase at hanlyncollective.com.
“I’m stoked,” Hamilton said. “For the entire month of June, anything that is purchased (from that line) the proceeds go toward the camps. We’re hoping to sell out so we can raise as much money as possible for the camp.”
This is a limited run; products will be available while supplies last.
Hamilton said she created the design for the product line specifically for the foundation.
“It’s such a traditionally Canada design; there’s a little beaver, a bear, a mountain, evergreen trees, Canadian geese, tents. It’s really, really sweet.”
On top of that, “everything is ecofriendly, bamboo lyocell … (which) is arguably the most eco-friendly material that you can make,” Hamilton said.
“It’s just so, so cosy.” Hamilton said she reached out to the foundation in the first place because “I wanted to be part of helping kids go to this camp.”
According to the foundation website, “Tims Camps equip young people from low-income families with the skills they need to design their future.”
