Neighbourhood Dundas Features Located near the Dundas Valley Conservation Area and a short drive from the historic downtown, this home is one of the most expensive listings in the area at nearly $9 million.
Nestled on Weirs Lane, this fourbedroom, six-bathroom home boasts more than 8,000 square feet of living space while still offering a “warm and comforting” atmosphere, said Sarit Zalter, a salesperson with Re/Max Escarpment Realty Inc.
“It doesn’t feel like a box,” said Sarit Zalter, who has the house colisted with her son Jordan Zalter. “It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen.”
The home was designed by SMPL Design Studio and built by David Bernstein Custom Homes in 2022, with inspiration from renowned German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.
It features a green roof, burnt wood cladding on the exterior as well as massive 12-foot doors and walls, accompanied by 115 feet of glass on one of the walls.
On the main floor is an eat-in kitchen with high-end appliances and a walk-in pantry, a living room with a gas fireplace, a lounge with wood panelling, an office space, a powder room and a fitness studio with a sauna.
Down the hallway, there is an art studio, another bathroom as well as a pair of covered porches and a garage.
Upstairs, there are four bedrooms — including the primary suite — and four bathrooms. The primary suite features a large walk-in closet, a five-piece ensuite with a soaker tub and a private balcony.
Each of the bedrooms has its own ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet, with the laundry room also located on the second floor, noted Sarit Zalter.
Outside, the property spans more than two hectares, with private trails and a pond surrounded by mature trees.
Zalter said the property could be fit for young entrepreneurs as well as someone looking for a quiet, cottage-like lifestyle that’s still close to amenities in the city.
There is also an auxiliary building, which could be used for multi-generational living, she added.
Why is it priced this way? Zalter said the price of the home was influenced by both land and building costs. The property last sold for $1.6 million in 2019, according to HouseSigma, a real estate data collection service.
