Television: what to watch this weekend

- BRIONY SMITH CONTRIBUTING COLUMNIST COURTESY OF HBO Tuesday on Netflix

1. Conan O’Brien Must Go

Conan O’Brien, one of the most beloved late-night hosts ever, solidified his all-timer status even further recently when he went on hotsauce challenge show “Hot Ones” and destroyed, spewing milk out of his mouth, chugging sauce straight from the bottle, rubbing his nipples and calling in a (fake) doctor for a health check. Timing is perfect, then, for the arrival of his new program, a four-episode travel miniseries documenting his wacky adventures with fans in Thailand, Argentina, Norway and Ireland. Crave

2. True Crime Story: It Couldn’t Happen Here

Hilarie Burton Morgan was part of the #MeToo movement, speaking out about her allegations that she was harassed by Ben Affleck and “One Tree Hill” creator Mark Schwann. Now the advocate is traversing America to give voice to small-town denizens affected by crime. The first season effected real-life change, raising awareness of Devonia Inman’s case and helping to free her after more than two decades of wrongful imprisonment. Hopefully this season can do the same for others.

4. The Jinx — Part Two

Jarecki returns for more in Part 2 of his acclaimed miniseries, tracking what happened after the late Durst was arrested, convicted and imprisoned.

Sunday on Crave

5. Secrets of the Octopus

The charming cephalopod continues to win over fans. First it was the Oscar-winning “My Octopus Teacher” and now comes “Secrets of the Octopus,” the next instalment of National Geographic’s “Secrets of” series exploring the fascinating quirks of fascinating creatures (they previously spotlighted whales and elephants). Ocean superfan James Cameron executive produces, while the affable Paul Rudd narrates.

6. The Express Way With Dulé Hill

7. Brigands: The Quest for Gold

The much-maligned “Sopranos” prequel “The Many Saints of Newark” was a bit of a letdown for most fans of David Chase’s seminal show, but the movie did give us one thing: Michela De Rossi. After seeing her magnetic performance in that film, we’ll follow her anywhere, including to 19th-century post-unification Italy. Rossi plays a rich wife who flees her bougie life to head a pack of thieves.
