Luckiest Goalie Debut Imaginable
On opening night of the NHL’s first season, the Toronto Arenas travelled to Montreal to face the Wanderers. Incredibly, Montreal goalie Bert Lindsay, father of the great ‘Terrible Ted,’ was the winning goalie in a 10-9 score. That’s right, he gave up nine goals in 60 minutes and still ended up with the ‘W.’ It’s a record that stands to this day.
