Jim Playfair made his NHL debut for the Edmonton Oilers against the then sad-sack New Jersey Devils. Wayne Gretzky racked up eight points, including an assist on a Jari Kurri goal also assisted by Playfair, who also scored a goal. The score was 13-4, and after the game, No. 99 referred to the Devils as a ‘Mickey Mouse’ team. Playfair could only dream every game would be so easy.
